Dr. Stefanescu Schmidt is an Adult Congenital Heart Disease specialist and Interventional Cardiologist. She trained in internal medicine, cardiology and coronary interventions at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, in the combined Boston Adult Congenital Heart Disease fellowship program, and at the Harvard School of Public Health (MSc Epidemiology). She then completed subspecialty training in congenital and structural interventions at the Toronto General Hospital and University of Toronto.
Her clinical practice and research focus on interventions to increase quality of life and longevity of adults with congenital and structural heart disease, and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. She leads and participates in several single and multi-center clinical studies including randomized trials. Her expertise has been recognized in invited lectures at national and international conferences, and she was elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions, and the Pediatric and Congenital Interventional Cardiovascular Society.
