Dr. lnglessis obtained a MD degree at the University of the Andes in Merida, Venezuela in 1990 with Magna Cum Laude honors and ranked top of his class. He was subsequently awarded a 4-year scholarship from the Venezuelan government to pursue post graduate training in the USA. He moved to Boston in 1996 and pursed Internal medicine Residency, Cardiology Fellowship, Interventional Cardiology Fellowship and Heart failure and Cardiac Transplantation Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Additionally, he pursued a one-year fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease interventions at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. lnglessis joined the Cardiology Division and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the Massachusetts General Hospital and became faculty at Harvard Medical School in 2003 and currently holds the rank of Assistant Professor in Medicine. Dr. lnglessis-Azuaje has served as the Co-Director of the Structural Heart Disease Program and Director of the Structural Heart Disease Fellowship at MGH since 2018.
